This document explains the licensing and usage guidelines for MMDAgent-EX and its CG avatars.

MMDAgent-EX #

MMDAgent-EX is distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

MMDAgent-EX depends on various open-source softwares and libraries. Some of them are also included in this repository. For licensing issues, please consult each license of the software:

CG Avatars #

Our CG avatars on GitHub have their own license and usage guidelines. Here I summarize the overview, but please make sure to check the README included in each repository when using them.

Generally, the CG avatarsare released under the CC-BY 4.0 License. For use, please display the credit as defined in each model. [[Name]] should be substituted to the model name.

Note that for “Gene”, its trademark and design right is held by us. The following uses are permissible without explicit permission. For commercial use, profit-making activities, or other types of usage, please contact the developer directly.

Examples of permissible use without explicit permission:

  • Academic activities (publication in papers, presentations, etc.)
  • Non-commercial use by individuals (posts on social media, displays at events, etc.)

Usage Guidelines #

These guidelines outline the ethical, legal and social issues to be observed when using MMDAgent-EX and the CG avatars.

Disallowed usage of our software: #

  • Illegal activity
  • Child Sexual Abuse Material or any content that exploits or harms children
  • Promotion of hateful, harassing, or violent content
  • Activity that has high risk of physical harm, including:
    • Weapons development
    • Military and warfare
    • Management or operation of critical infrastructure in energy, transportation, and water
    • Content that promotes, encourages, or depicts acts of self-harm, such as suicide, cutting, and eating disorders
  • Fraudulent or deceptive activity, including:
    • Scams
    • Coordinated inauthentic behavior
    • Plagiarism
    • Disinformation
  • Actions harmful to the MikuMikuDance related community and its fun society:
    • Creation and disribution of contents that violates the rights of copyright holders of models, motions, music, etc.
    • Ignoring guidelines set by the copyright holders.
    • Unauthorized redistribution, plagiarism, and impersonation of the original creators.
